My Margarita

Updated: Oct 25, 2020

When I searched Margarita’s origins, most of the stories obviously come from the same country, The drink belongs to Mexico because of tequila.

I found a couple of fun ones like it was named after a German Consul’s daughter Margarita in the 1940s. Still, there is one common to all amongst the many stories—the story about Marjorie King, a famous actress.

It is rumored that Danny Herrera, the owner of Rancho La Gloria, one of the most popular restaurants in the 1930s, was a big fan of Marjorie King, and she often came to his restaurant. However, Marjorie was allergic to all alcohol except tequila, (weird 🤷‍♀️) For this elegant lady not to be deprived of anything, Herrera created this cocktail that fits her palate and named it “Margarita” (“Marjorie” in Spanish.)

Thanks to our famous actress and her allergy to let us enjoy our time with this delicious drink. She must have been flattered though. I would have !! Maybe I should think about mixing a new cocktail and naming it “ Nihan”😎

And another one is Margarita means “daisy” in Spanish, hmmm…. tequila-based daisy...

And this is how I do it ;

Ingredients

4 spoon of Tequila (Herrudura Reposado is my fav.)

2 spoon of Triple Sec (Curacao, orange liquor)

2 spoon of lime juice

2 ice chips

Two teaspoons of salt (rock salt would be better)

1 lime wedge to garnish

How

Moisten the edges of the margarita glass with a lime slice and dip them in salt

Put ice cubes and tequila, lime juice, and triple sec in the cocktail mixer.

Shake well and strain into pre-prepared glass

Garnish with a lime slice

Enjoy 😊
