My favorite drink of all times, it is fresh, and it can be served to anyone cause it delicious both ways, with alcohol or not. 😉
The story of this drink is lovely. It is created by Cubans working in sugar cane fields. Just because they can only find rum these days, they used sugar and lemon to suppress the rum's cheap and bitter taste. It gained its popularity in America thanks to the people who had to flee to Cuba to drink during the great alcohol ban.
It is also the favorite drink of the famous writer Ernest Hemingway...
The cocktail's name comes from the word 'mojo' in African languages; "Mojo" means "to add a little magic to work."
I strongly agree that this drink is magical !!!
Here is the recipe for Mojito ;
Ingredients
10 fresh mint leaves
½ lime, ( I cut them into 4 -6 wedges)
2 tablespoons brown sugar (to taste;))
1 cup of ice cubes, preferably
1 ½ ounces white rum
½ cup soda
How
Put mint leaves and 2 lime wedge into a sturdy glass.
Use a muddler to crush the mint and lime.
Add 2 more lime wedges and the brown sugar, and muddle again to release the lime juice. Do not strain the mixture.
Fill the glass almost to the top with ice. Pour the rum over the ice, and then fill the glass with soda.
Stir, taste, and add some more sugar if you like... Please don't 😀
Garnish with the remaining lime wedge and mint leaves, if desired.
Enjoy your drink 😋
